“Damn, you’re good. But don’t worry. No details.”
“What did he tell you about Jen?”
“How’d you know we talked about her? Were you listening?”
“No, but guys don’t call each other early in the morning on weekends unless it’s for golf or to tell about their dates the night before. So, out with it!”
“Okay, if you take your t-shirt off.”
Cooper’s t-shirt sailed over her head. “I’m listening,” she said, trying to look serious.
Rob started giggling. “Now I’m horny. Can’t we talk about this later?” he asked, reaching for Cooper’s breasts.
Cooper slapped his hand away and covered herself with one of the throw pillows on her couch. “You might as well start thinking about baseball or funerals, or whatever, because you’re getting no action until I get some answers.”
“He likes her. Really likes her.”
“That’s it?”
“I can’t remember all the specifics. I wasn’t listening that closely, but that was the gist of it.”
“I can’t report back to Jen without details. Women don’t work on just the ‘gist’ of things. It drives us crazy.”
“He wanted to call her today and ask her out for tonight, but I discouraged him.”
“What the hell did you do that for?”
“If he called today, she’d lose interest in him. That’s the way it always works. A guy who sends a dozen red roses after a first date always ends up without a second one.”
