“I’m back,” Jen said excitedly. “What’s up?” she asked, trying to remain nonchalant even though she was happy to be talking to him.
“Do you have plans this weekend?”
“That depends.”
“On what?”
“On whether or not you’re asking me out.”
“Assuming I am…”
“You’re such a lawyer!” she chuckled. “Assuming I’m available, what night?”
“How about both? But if that’s too much…”
“No. No,” she said, cutting him off. “That would be great.” Jen was thrilled.
“Do you like sushi?”
“Mmmm…love it, but don’t know where to get it around here.”
“I’ll take care of that. Would you be up for some dancing afterwards?”
“Not the type you were demonstrating at Nye’s, I hope.” Adam loved Jen’s sarcastic sense of humor.
“No,” he laughed, “more like dancing cheek-to-cheek.”
“Slow dancing, huh? That’s got potential.” Being pressed up against you and staring into your eyes all night — that works for me, she thought. “What should I wear?”
“Whatever you want.”
“Guys always say that. How are we supposed to know what that means? I need some specifics. I am a woman, you know.”
